┌──────────────┐
│ INTRODUCTION │
└──────────────┘
Scrabble-2-PCBoard is a utility designed to import the messages that are
produced my Chris Hall's Scrabble BBS game door.
Scrabble-2-PCBoard will read a default format file that is accompanied
with the version 4.0 door game. This file must not have the first 3
lines modified, or it will not work properly.

Files included in this archive:
FILE_ID.DIZ - Description file for Scrabble-2-PCBoard
MESSAGE.TXT - A copy of the default message text file
PROGRAMS.DWS - Other programs by Dataware Software
SCRB2PCB.DOC - This manual
SCRB2PCB.HIS - Scrabble-2-PCB history file
SCRB2PCB.EXE - Scrabble-2-PCB executable
I originally compressed this program as S2PCBnn.ARJ, but it may be
compressed with any other archive program you wish to use.
The latest version will always be available on my BBS using the magic
filename of SCRB2PCB.
Sometimes, there may be a need for debug code to be released. This code is
used to track down specific problems which aren't normally encountered on
my system. I have a 386/sx-25 w/4megs of RAM, and DOS 5.0, which should be
pretty standard and generic, but sometimes this doesn't present an
optimal testing environment, so please, if you're having problems, and
debug code is available, feel free to FREQ S2PDEBUG from me, or if you're
registered on my BBS call and download SCRB2PCB.ARJ from conference #1.
If SCRB2PCB.ARJ isn't available, then you're the first person that has
found a problem, so please leave me your specifics so I may be able to
trouble shoot the problem(s).
┌──────────────┐
│ EXECUTION │
└──────────────┘
Scrabble-2-PCB is fully command line driven.
The syntax for calling it is as follows:
SCRB2PCB /{required info} /{required info} /{optional info}
{ Required switches }
/MB = Full path and filename of the PCBoard message base to send
the message(s) to.
(i.e. /MBC:\PCB\MAIN\MSGS )
/MP = Full path to the message file(s) created by the Scrabble door
(i.e. /MPC:\DOORS\SCRABBLE\ )
{ Optional switches }
/SU = * Subject of the message(s)
(i.e. /SUIT_IS_YOUR_TURN or /SUATTENTION_SCRABBLE_PLAYERS )
/ST = Message status (private or public)
(i.e. /STP or /STPRIVATE)
Scrabble-2-PCBoard v1.0 Page 3
/EC = Set the echo flag to on.
(i.e. /EC or /ECHO )
/KE = Keep the messages on disk after importing. This is not
recommended since you could end up with duplicate messages
in your message bases.
/VER = Shows the current version & compile date
(i.e. /VER )
/H or /? = Shows the help screen
* - If the /SUbject switch is used, the subject must not have any spaces
but instead and underscore '_' character instead. These characters
will be replaced by spaces ' ' once the message is imported.
At anytime, you may also just type SCRB2PCB without any command line
arguments and a help screen will appear.
You must specify the complete paths for the message files(s) and the
PCBoard message base.
┌──────────────┐
│ LIMITATIONS │
└──────────────┘
Scrabble-2-PCBoard is NOT known to be Desqview aware, or capable of
working with locked files.
The first three lines in the MESSAGE.TXT file within the SCRABBLE
directory must be in the following format:
TO : %NAME
FROM: Scrabble Door
DATE: %DATE
The reason for this is because I have no way of telling what is where
unless I define a specific area and location that the infomation will
be. This is the only limitation that I have imposed on the use of this
utility. All lines following the first three will be imported directly
as text. If you wish to use PCB @X codes, you may do so since PCBoard
automatically interprets them into the ANSI instructions.
The FROM: line can be any name as long as the FROM:<space> is there
before the name.
